Providing news to the EUROFOREST Portal

Instructions

The EUROFOREST Portal offers a channel for information providers to get more visibility for their news. If you are presenting a qualified source for forestry news for this portal, please send your request to register to this service. See further details of the registration procedure.

The EUROFOREST Portal concerns any forestry information relevant in a European context. Please notice that we do not publish information on jobs or events: for these please check the EFI and GFIS web sites. The news can include, but is not limited to, information about forest resources, forest policy processes and decisions, institutions that are involved in forestry, or topical publications. EUROFOREST Portal publishes news in English. EFI reserves the rights to choose materials to be published.

Description about RSS information and an example feed

The system is based on the RSS 2.0 Specification . The EUROFOREST Portal feeds must be created using the UTF-8 character set. The following example shows how to create a feed for the EUROFOREST Portal.

NOTES

  • The feed must be created using the UTF-8 character set and the first line in the RSS feed (the XML declaration) must include the character set encoding definition.
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
  • The second line (the RSS 2.0 declaration) must contain the XML namespace definition if elements of the DCMI Element Set are used.
    <rss version="2.0" xmlns:dc="http://purl.org/dc/elements/1.1/">
  • All items in a feed must be of the same information type and in the same language.
  • As soon as a feed has been prepared it can be validated at http://feedvalidator.org/
