Rutger Dankers
Forest science associations and societies generally aim to promote high quality research in forest and wood science in their home countries. The societies aim to network researchers and to enhance the links between researchers and practical foresters and promote public interest in forest research.

Some forest science associations publish scientific journals, and they usually organize different types of events, i.e. seminars, workshops and excursions. Some of them give scholarships and award prizes.
