Forest products


Forest products are defined as any raw material yielded by a forest. It also includes the products manufactured from those raw materials. It includes information about all aspects of non-wood forest products, panels and pulp and paper products, as well as timber, from primary processing to the properties, utilization and treatment of the final products.

Eurostat produces statistics for production of various forest products in Europe compared with the rest of the world, and in 2003, Europe (EU-25) became the largest producer of sawnwood and of paper and paperboard. It was second only to the USA as a producer of roundwood.
