DescriptionThe EEA aims to support sustainable development and to help achieve significant and measurable improvement in Europe's environment through the provision of timely, targeted, relevant and reliable information to policy making agents and the public. EEA's main clients are the European Commission, the European Parliament, the Council — especially through the changing presidencies — and the member countries. It provides a wide range of information and assessments, including reports, maps, and data. The information can be found according to various themes (including: Acidification, Agriculture, Air quality, Biodiversity change, Climate change, Energy, Natural resources, Soil, Water), or by country (through the State of the Environment Reporting Information System - SERIS). The information provided by the EEA comes from a wide range of sources. One major source is the European environment information and observation network (Eionet). The EEA is responsible for developing the Eionet network and coordinating its activities.
