DescriptionDepartment of Forest and Water Management is a part of the Faculty of Bioscience Engineering. the department is comprised of the following units: Forest & Nature Laboratory (ForNaLab); Laboratory of Forest Management and Spatial Information Techniques; Laboratory of Wood Technology; Laboratory of Hydrology and Water Management. Education in given in the following fields: Forestry of Temperate and Tropical Regions, Forest Politics, Forest Management, Wood Biology, Wood Technology, Remote Sensing, Geographic Information Systems, Hydraulics, Hydrology and Water Management. Main goals of research are the improvement of insight in forest ecosystem functioning (nutrient cycling, stand dynamics, biodiversity), the realisation of sustainable and nature oriented forest management, the development of guidelines and methods for the afforestation of abandoned agricultural land and dredged sludge deposits, and, finally, the conversion of conifer forests and poplar plantations.
