DescriptionAt the Warsaw Conference ministers responsible for forests in Europe took decisions on common aspects concerning forests and forestry being of the highest political importance. The ministerial commitments are embraced in the Ministerial Declaration and two Resolutions: Warsaw Resolution 1 - Forests, Wood and Energy; Warsaw Resolution 2 - Forests and Water. The documents consider the roles of forests in mitigating climate change, in promoting wood as a renewable energy carrier as well as in protecting water quality and quantity. In addition on occasion of the 5th Ministerial Conference the two Ministerial Statements were prepared: Ministerial Statement on Pan-European Forest Week 2008; Ministerial Statement on Forest Fires. Two Reports were for the Warsaw Conference in order to provide policy and decision makers with the up-to-date data on the extent of accomplishment of goals of sustainable forest management (SFM) at national and regional levels: State of Europe's Forests 2007; and Implementation of MCPFE Commitments: National and Pan-European Activities 2003-2007.
