DescriptionThe Collaborative Partnership on Forests (CPF) is an innovative partnership of 14 major forest-related international organizations, institutions and convention secretariats. The objectives of the CPF are to (a) support the work of the United Nations Forum on Forests (UNFF) and member countries and (b) enhance cooperation and coordination on forest issues. The CPF was established in April 2001, following the recommendation of the Economic and Social Council of the United Nations (ECOSOC). Current (2007) CPF initiatives include: (a) the CPF Sourcebook on Funding for Sustainable Forest Management (to make forestry funding information accessible through an online searchable database); (b) CPF Task Force on Streamlining Forest-Related Reporting (to reduce the reporting burden on countries); (c) CPF initiative on forest-related definitions (to foster a common understanding of terms and definitions; (d) Global Forest Information Service (GFIS) (an initiative which aims to provide easy access to forest information world-wide for all types of stakeholders); (e) CPF Web site (to provide information on the partnership and its activities).
