DescriptionThe Regional Forest Plans (PROF) are sectoral instruments of regional administrations which set the standards for use of forests in Portugal. The objectives are to: (1) Assess the potential of forests, from the point of view of its dominant uses; (2) Set the list of species for expansion and conversion of forests; (3) Identify the general models of forestry and resource management methods; (4) Define critical areas in terms of risk of fire, the sensitivity to erosion and ecological importance, social and cultural as well as the specific standards for forestry and sustainable use of resources to apply to these spaces. Documentation (maps, plans, regulations) for each Portuguese region are available.
