DescriptionCASMOFOR (CArbon Sequestration MOdel for FORestations) is an accounting model to assess the removals and emissions of carbon in afforestations. The model currently includes country specific parameters for forests in Hungary, but can be developed to include other parameters for other conditions. CASMOFOR provides a modeling framework that can be used for any country where appropriate data are available to model basic forest processes like tree growth and decomposition, as well as to model forest management. The model is an MS Excel based system of spreadsheets with MS Visual Basic macros. The model uses yield table data, wood density data, and other data and information on how stands are managed. CASMOFOR also allows for economic analysis of afforestations in relation to the amount of carbon fixed. CASMOFOR produces MS Excel graphs and data, and comes with a help system both in English and Hungarian.
