DescriptionIEA Bioenergy is an organisation set up in 1978 by the International Energy Agency (IEA) with the aim of improving cooperation and information exchange between countries that have national programmes in bioenergy research, development and deployment. The work of IEA Bioenergy is structured in a number of Tasks. For the period 2010-2012, there are 12 Tasks. The scope of IEA Bioenergy includes: biomass resources (including conventional forestry and short-rotation forestry); supply systems (harvesting, collection, handling and storage); conversion; and end products. IEA Bioenergy aims to accelerate the use of environmentally sound and cost competitive bioenergy on a sustainable basis, and thereby achieve a substantial contribution to future energy demands.
