DescriptionThe National Forest Fire Protection Plan (PNDFCI), presented at the Council of Ministers on 23 March 2006 was published in the Official Gazette No. 102, Series IB, the 26/05/2006. PNDFCI with a defined strategy and a coordinated set of actions to promote the active management of the forest, creating favorable conditions for the progressive reduction of forest fires. To achieve the objectives, actions and targets are set in the plan in three priority areas: structural prevention, monitoring, and fire fighting. There are five strategic areas for action: (1) Increasing the resilience of the land to forest fires; (2) Reduction of the incidence of fires; (3) Improving the effectiveness of the fire fighting and fire management; (4) Recovery and rehabilitation of ecosystems; (5) Adaptation of a functional and efficient organizational structure.
