DescriptionThe EU REDD Facility is one of several European initiatives to address the underlying drivers of deforestation and forest degradation, and to foster sustainable forest management in developing countries. The European Forest Institute (EFI) established the EU REDD Facility at the end of 2010 with funding from the European Commission and its Member States. The objectives of the Facility are to: support developing countries as they prepare for and implement REDD+; assist developing countries meet their goals in building needed capacity for REDD+, with a focus on improving governance; enhance lessons learning from and explore interactions between the FLEGT and REDD+ processes at country level; inform policy making by the European Commission and EU Member States on REDD+ support to developing countries.
