DescriptionMetsähallitus (Finland) is a state enterprise that administers more than 12 million hectares of state-owned land and water areas. Metsähallitus runs business activities while also fulfilling many public administration duties. The business units are: (1) Forestry, (2) Wild North, providing eco-tourism services and rental accommodation, (3) Laatumaa, which specialises in plot and forest real estate business, (4) Fin Forelia Oy produces and markets tree seedlings for forests, (5) Siemen Forelia Oy produces and markets forest tree seeds, (6) Morenia Oy, specialises in soil resources business, and (7) the Metsähallitus Holding Company. The public administration of the duties of Metsähallitus involve, among others, managing nature conservation and hiking areas, control of hunting and fishing rights and promoting conservation and recreational use of State lands and waters. The Natural Heritage Services business unit is primarily responsible for public services.
