DescriptionThis site of the Corpo Forestale dello Stato describes their role, organizational structure, activities, personnel as well as their emergency services. The Corpo Forestale is a police force with civil status, specialized in the protection of the natural and landscape resources and in preventing and restrain crimes against the environment and the food and agricultural compartment. It contributes in maintaining public order and safety, especially in rural and mountain areas. The service is responsible for enforcing civil law in national and regional parks and reserves. They control the application of the CITES Convention on international trade in endangered species. They support the regional services in fighting forest fire and they contribute to civil protection and social security in mountain and rural areas. They participate in monitoring and reporting on the national forest resources (e.g. national forest inventory). The service also contributes to enforce the water protection, hunting and garbage management law. The service is under the direct control of the Italian Ministry for Agricultural, Food and Forestry Policy.
