DescriptionThe International Institute for Applied Systems Analysis (IIASA) is an international research organization. It conducts inter-disciplinary scientific studies on environmental, economic, technological and social issues in the context of human dimensions of global change. The overall objective of the IIASA Forestry (FOR) Program was to address selected issues of global change and forests with respect to the management of the forest sector in its interaction with environmental and non-environmental sectors. The FOR Program was organized in three major themes: 1) Greenhouse Gas Cycling and Terrestrial Ecosystems, 2) Global Impacts of Forest Sector Development, and 3) International Governance of Forests with the objective to contribute to the improvement of international processes in forestry and to bring research results achieved in the program to policy and governance processes of the sector.
