DescriptionThe objective the UNCCD is to combat desertification and mitigate the effects of drought in countries experiencing serious drought or desertification through effective action at all levels. Reports submitted to the Conference of the Parties (COP) and the Committee for the Review of the Implementation of the Convention (CRIC) are available via the webpages. The reports detail how the Parties carry out their commitments under the Convention (according to Article 26 of the Convention). Reports have been submitted by affected and developed country Parties (national reports), as well as United Nations organizations and other intergovernmental and non-governmental organizations. National Action Programmes (NAPs) are one of the key instruments in the implementation of the Convention. The national reports and NAPs are available from the webpages. With regard to Europe two regions of interest are: Central and Eastern Europe; and the Northern Mediterranean.
