DescriptionINBO is a scientific institute of the Flemish Government in Belgium. INBO is responsible for a number of research areas with respect to forests and forestry, including sustainable use of forests, tree breeding and genetic studies of autocthonous trees and shrubs, water and mineral cycling in forest, and monitoring of forests in general, forest soils and forest reserves. It carries out research that is essential to governmental policy and provides scientific support for conservation, development, management and sustainable use of biodiversity and its environment. It publishes the two-yearly Nature Report, which evaluates the state of nature and relevant policy efforts in Flanders. Through the ‘Centre for Tree Diagnosis’, theINBO renders practical advice on a scientific basis on tree-related problems both in the urban and non-urban areas in Flanders.
